Living as a queer person in today’s climate is difficult and I notice the rise in anxiety with clients. I decided to start group therapy for our community and I believe in the power of talking together in a small group. The structure will be designed for 10 weeks with specific topics each week and a short break before resuming for another 10 weeks. All sessions will be conducted via Zoom with opportunities for break out, small groups for discussions about the current topic. Sessions are held each Wednesday from 6:30-8. Group therapy is covered under insurance for the first 50 min. Reach out for more details.
Benefits of group therapy are: small, vetted members, no more than 8 people per group, meeting other queer people for support in our uncertain future, learning from other members, psychoeducation to enhance valuable tools needed for resilience, a confidential space to facilitate vulnerability and emotional growth, and building a stronger sense of community. The groups will be closed, meaning once started people can choose to stop attending yet no new people will be added to the group.
